nslookup, dig and hostname

nslookup - nameserver lookup - used to query the DNS server to provide the mapping between domain name and a server.

non-interactive moce - displays hte name and the ip address.

interative moce - just type nslookup, and you enter the nslookup shell.

dig - used to conduct queries against DNS NAME servers. dfi

hostname - displays the hostname portion of the full computer name for a given sysem.
